AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES

GM stated “The use of external transmission fluid exchange or flush machines is NOT recommended for the automatic transmission. Use of external machines to replace the fluid may affect the operation or the durability of the transmission. Transmission fluid should only be replaced by draining and refilling following the directions in SI. Refer to Automatic/Manual Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement.” A poor grade mechanic will not inspect the filter and the external components when doing a basic transmission flush. Those parts are critical and can save you time and money in the future. In some cases the transmission failure is due to slippage caused by low pressure from a restricted filter. When a basic transmission flush is done it can stir up debris and clog the filter more. When flushing a transmission the cooler lines are removed with the engine running. As the transmission fluid runs out, more fluid is added, and the lines are reinstalled. Other shops will simply hook up the flush machine and walk away. Even with a machine flushing the transmission fluid you are often left with up to 50% of the old contaminated fluid. Often times a generic universal fluid may be used instead of the vehicle manufacturers recommended transmission fluid. Action Transmission values our customers and we will provide you with full and complete service with attention to detail and quality inspections to keep your transmission running smooth.

A proper transmission service involves a thorough inspection, and if applicable; removing the pan and filter and draining the fluid and replacing the filter. Then checking that all of the bolts are at the proper torque and after all of the internal components are serviced and thoroughly checked and cleaned the transmission is reassembled and transmission fluid added. Your transmission and vehicle benefit most from the full and proper service that Action Transmission provides. When you bring your vehicle to us we will do a full transmission inspection. We will check for leaks and external issues first and foremost. We don’t want you to have to pay to replace something unnecessarily.

REASONS WHY A TRANSMISSION FLUSH IS NOT RECOMMENDED

Many places will show you the color of your transmission fluid as an indication that your fluid “is bad”. They will try to tell you the only thing that you need to have done is a transmission flush. Transmission flushing is not always the best solution for every vehicle, and can sometimes harm the vehicle more by doing a basic transmission flush. Doing a basic transmission flush does not clean the transmission. Some vehicle manufacturers have warned dealerships against many flushing procedures.
